Some restrictions will apply to all stroke patients before driving.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drivers are not allowed to drive for at least one month after a Stroke or Transient Ischaemic Attack.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After a month if\u00a0they\u00a0are considered fit to drive by their doctor and hold a full driving licence,\u00a0they may\u00a0resume driving. All drivers must notify their insurance company about the stroke or TIA. Some insurance companies will ask for a doctor\u2019s report on fitness to drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If\u00a0they are still not considered fit to drive by\u00a0their doctor after one month,\u00a0they must notify the DVLA and\u00a0they cannot drive.<\/strong> Their insurance cover would not\u00a0be valid during this period so it is in effect illegal.
