They have additional training and responsibilities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting the GP with minor surgical procedures<\/li>\n<li>Immunisations such as flu jabs<\/li>\n<li>Advice and support for patients and carers<\/li>\n<li>Health screening for example weight checks.<\/li>\n<li>Health promotion for example help to stop smoking<\/li>\n<li>Nurse led clinics for diabetics, asthma or long term conditions<\/li>\n<li>Issue of some prescriptions for certain medicines, disposable items and equipment<\/li>\n<li>Some blood tests<\/li>\n<li>Routine procedures such as wound dressings, blood pressure monitoring<\/li>\n<li>Working and coordinating services\u00a0with other health professionals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>District or community nurses<\/strong> mainly visit patients at home. They can be assisted by\u00a0<strong>care assistants<\/strong>\u00a0who may visit to assist with tasks which\u00a0need two workers.
