2) Disabled Living Centres

There are 5  Disabled Living Centres around Scotland in Dundee, Edinburgh, Elgin, Grangemouth, and Paisley. You can make an appointment to go and try a wide variety and selection of options such as chairs, beds, stair lifts, commodes, bathing equipment , mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs and so on. They will also be able to advise you if the equipment you are looking for is available free of charge from your local authority or not. Usually none of the equipment on display is available to buy directly from the Disabled Living Centre but they will have details of stockists. Also contact details for  representatives from the companies who will arrange to meet you at your own home for a demonstration of a product. They may have advice sheets or handouts for you when considering buying expensive purchases. They will also be able to advise you if the equipment you are looking for is exempt from VAT or not.
